Basics Do's and Don'ts
Below are some quick references for things that have a positive or negative impact on health. Remember not to be overwhelmed with the number of things listed. As with anything all journeys begin with the first step. Pick a few things that you can begin working on and gradually add more. This is not a diet but a lifestyle change. I urge you to educate yourself and do a little research. I have provided a few reference sources that may be helpful. Educating yourself is the key to health, weight loss and emotional happiness. The more information you take in, the more your mind will work overtime absorbing that knowledge. If you hear enough times that certain things you do are detrimental to your health, pretty soon you will lose the desire for that particular thing. Turning a blind eye does not negate the fact that something is harming you. You may think, “I’ve been doing this a long time and have had no consequences from it.” Well, just remember you can drive a car for a long time without changing the oil with no apparent problem until one day the engine locks up. Our bodies are temples and we will be blessed for taking good care of them.

BAD STUFF
Aspartame -. This is found in most diet products, especially sodas. It causes neurological damage (brain lesions and tumors), grand mal seizures, weight gain, increased hunger and can cause symptoms that mimic Parkinson’s,. It's great for ant poison. More info? MSG (monosodium glutamate) – This is found in many grocery store and restaurant foods especially soups and salad dressings. Like aspartame, MSG is an excitotoxin causing similar damage to brain neurons. Read labels and ask restaurants about MSG in food. Olive Garden only has 3 items without it (as of 09/09/2007). Microwave – Microwaves destroy the vitamin content of vegetables by 97% (steaming only 11%) They change the structure of amino acids in milk and meats creating a carcinogenic substance. You can survive without a microwave. They do have one good use, sterilizing your dish rags.
Sodas – They are loaded with high fructose corn syrup (more unhealthy than sugar). Soft drinks account for ¼ of all drinks consumed in the USA. Sodas contain phosphoric acid which leeches calcium from your body. Can you say osteoporosis, hip fractures? Another issue is sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid (Vit C) or citric acid in sodas. Individually they are relatively safe but together they become carcenogenic. Check this list of kid oriented drinks with these substances that are linked to Leukemia. Not to mention sodas destroy tooth enamel, raise blood sugar levels, the list goes on and on. Not one single good quality. You don’t have to drink it, get over it.
High Fructose Corn Syrup – HFCS is a concentrated sweetener found in almost every food. It negatively impacts health. Read labels. Even whole grain breads often have HFCS as the third ingredient. It is more harmful than sugar and sugar is bad enough. If you really care about your children and grandchildren then get involved in the school lunch program. Get petitoions. Call local officials. Margarine, Vegetable oils, Hydrogenated & Partially hydrogenated fats - These are your enemies. Contrary to all the things you’ve heard, these oils and fats are extremely dangerous to your health. Besides hydrogenated fats, most brands of margarine also contain phosphoric acid (see sodas). Some restaurants are touting non trans fat cooking. Beware, they are using what appears to be a more dangerous concoction called interesterified fats. Your best option for cooking is coconut oil. Tap Water – Tap water contains poisons such as chlorine (a carcinogen), flouride (a toxic by-product of fertilizer and aluminum manufacturing) and heavy metals like mercury, lead, arsenic, etc. It is linked to bone cancer. Don’t think fluoride is bad? www.flouridealert.org. Fluoride dangers.
Your largest organ is your skin. If you have access to a swimming pool test kit, check your tap water for chlorine. Then, swirl you finger around in it and retest that water. Where did the chlorine go? In your body. Hot showers release chlorine gas that you breathe in. Shower heads are available to filter out the chlorine. The best are the ones that use vitamin C *(ascorbic acid) to neutralize the chlorine. Vitamin C tablets are available for the bathtub. Contact us for details on purchasing.
Fruit Juices – They contain too much concentrated sugar. Eat some fruit instead. Elevated blood sugar spikes cause damage. You are not helping your children by giving them unlimited amounts of juice.
Statin Drugs (cholesterol meds.) – Statin drugs are associated with liver and kidney damage. They inhibit production of CoQ10 in the body which causes weakness of muscles particularly the heart. Consider supplementing with CoQ10 (Super Ubiquinol form) if you must take statins. There are no documented studies proving increased lifespan or reduction in heart disease from taking statin drugs. Milk – The only good milk is raw milk. It is alive with healthy enzymes, probiotics, vitamins and more. The entire population of the world lived on it until a few decades ago and 75% still do. If you find a source and you have fears of safety add a few 6-8 drops/ gallon of food grade 12% hydrogen peroxide or colloidal silver per gallon. If you must buy store bought milk Mayfield has a new product called Nuture that contains added living probiotics however it is not organic. Organic milk is a better choice only because it is void of hormones and pesticides. I don't consider either a great alternative only the lesser evils. Vaccinations – WARNING PLEASE READ AND CHECK OUT LINKS ! Flu vaccines contain a preservative called Thimerosal which is a MERCURY derivative. If you don’t believe it is so, call the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA. and ask them if the flu shots have any form of Mercury in them. Mercury is extremely toxic. Quote from CDC site. "There is no convincing scientific evidence of harm caused by the low doses of thimerosal in vaccines, except for minor reactions like redness and swelling at the injection site. It is theorized that heavy metals in vaccines, as well as the combo effect of multiple vaccines, expresses an extreme load on the immune system allowing opportunistic organisms to take advantage of the weakened condition. It is strongly linked to Autism and other neurological disorders. You should always inquire of your doctor about Thimerosal in children’s vaccines. Ask to see the bottle or box and read the ingredients for yourself . Antibiotics (against life) – At times they are beneficial but these drugs have been used and over used to the point they have helped create resistant strains of bacteria. They are handed out like candy for every malady known. They are to blame for yeast infections in babies and adults alike. They destroy the balance of good bacteria and yeast in the gut. Antibiotics should be followed by a month of Probiotics (non prescription) and natural anti fungals like caprylic acid or olive leaf extract. Tylenol – There is overwhelming evidence that it causes damage to the liver and kidneys with and has been fatal in some cases. Seek other remedies for headaches.
Fast Food –You must rent the video Supersize Me and watch the movie/documentary. It is very sobering. It’s great for family viewing if you want your kids to stop eating fast food. Most fast food is microwaved, full of bad fats, sugar, aspartame, MSG, and unhealthy meat.. No need to go on and on – you already know it’s totally bad for you.
Meat – We’ve all heard about meat being bad for you. Well yes and no. Commercially raised beef and chicken are fed unhealthy grains. Chemicals are added to their food. They are given steroids, growth hormones and antibiotics. Fish are universally contaminated with mercury with the exception of wild Alaskan red salmon. If you eat fresh or salt water fish eat the smaller sun fish and not the larger varieties that have accumulations of mercury. Eat wild game or find a farmer that pasture feeds his cows. You can buy healthy Amish chicken from Food City in Tennessee. Other stores may also carry it. Beware that the words all natural are meaningless. Look for Certified organic, hormone free, antibiotic free, steroid free and range or grass fed on the packaging. When animals are fed grains it disturbs the balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. Normally there is a 1:1 ratio in healthy cows and chickens. When they are fed grains the ratio changes to 1:20-40. This abundance of Omega 6 is detrimental to your heart. We really can’t improve on what God has established. It’s all about the money: Make the animal grow 3x faster than normal with grains and hormones. When it gets sick give it steroids and antibiotics to keep it alive until it reaches full weight. Who cares about anything else? You are being fed sick animals and it affects your health.
Sugar, white flour, potatoes (except red skin) includes potato chips and anything made with potatoes, white rice. These all convert to sugar rapidly. 1 potato = ½ cup of sugar. Sugar is acidic and raises blood sugar and insulin levels. It clogs arteries and has no redeeming qualities. Can you totally avoid it? No, but you can seriously reduce your intake. GOOD STUFF
There are some fundamental things I believe would be beneficial to anyone, especially those with compromised health, including the obese. The puzzle is in many parts and it is important that we understand how the parts fit together. More than likely if you are unhealthy, feel tired all the time, and are constantly getting ill, it didn’t happen overnight. Conversely, you are not going to fix it overnight either. However, the day you begin to apply good nutrition you will have taken that first step. Here is a protocol I use:
Testing – Getting tested for hormones and thyroid (free T3 & T4) can tell you a lot and give you a basis for beginning your road to health. Contact me for resources for testing. (test $165)
Detoxification – The first step is to rid yourself of as many toxins as possible. Don’t think you are toxic? Zeolite (clinoptilolite) is a mineral that helps to remove heavy metals and toxins in a safe manner (oral chelation). Toxic element urine tests are available to validate effectiveness of zeolite in removing heavy metals. You can see my wife"s test results by clicking test on the side menu. Notice the extremely elevated aluminum level.
There are also various colon, liver, and parasite cleanses available at health stores.
Replenish - Supplement – It is important to understand that most of us consume a diet that is void of any significant nutrition. Much of what we buy at the grocery store is processed, genetically modified, artificial, and generally is made from the cheapest ingredients that can be found. Why? How about money. To overcome this I choose to buy organic as often as possible. Raise or buy grass fed beef and free range chickens. If possible, find a source for raw whole milk either cow or goat. The same goes for butter and eggs. Drink clean alkaline water. Supplement with nutrients that you aren’t getting from food sources. What has happened is that food production has been taken over by large corporations. Their main objective is to make a profit for the share holders. This means little regard for nutrition or safety. Much of the propaganda you may have heard in the past like margarine is better for you than real butter or diet sodas help you lose weight are simply lies. It is hard to believe that we have been deceived by those we trusted.
Cod Liver Oil – I believe this to be one of the most important supplements available after you have detoxed from heavy metals. There are too many virtues to list them all but here are a few: Cod liver oil slows down the destruction of joints and actually helps to rebuild cartilage. It is beneficial for the brain, helps with depression and anxiety, helps in the prevention of heart disease and stroke. It is a preventative for Alzheimer’s, helps to prevent damage from diabetes, reduces hyperactivity, effective on ulcers, removes plaques from arteries, helps with arthritis inflammation, fights cancer and the list goes on. The majority of people are deficient in vitamin D. The darker your skin the harder to absorb it from sunlight. Your body does not make it. The best source is from the sun. There is not enough sunlight except during the summer months and then you need to be exposed every day for 20 minutes in shorts and short sleeves. For most people that isn't possible. The next best source is cod liver oil. Dr Joseph Mercola recommends 1 tsp. per 50 pounds of body weight. The quality is important. I highly recommend Carlson’s lemon flavored cod liver oil. It is liquid in a bottle. It does not have a bad taste. Keep it refrigerated. If you are considering gel caps remember it takes about 14 caps to make 1 tablespoon. If you are out in the sun every day during the summer, switch to fish oil. In that case you may not need the extra vitamin D. Update: Now a much greater source of Omega 3's is Neptune Krill Oil available from My Health Choice and should be taken with 1000iu of Vitamin D3. This may be easier to take for some since both are in capsule form.
CoQ10 – This is an enzyme that is found in all the cells of our body. the highest amount is found in the heart and pancreas. As we age production diminishes. Lack of CoQ10 results in atrophy (weakening) of muscles. Taking Statin drugs (cholesterol) interferes with production of CoQ10. The result is often cardiomyopathy or weakening of the heart muscle. CoQ10 is a preventative for strokes. By the way CoQ10 has a remarkable effect on skin wrinkles. After 6 weeks a 27% reduction and after 10 weeks a 43% reduction in wrinkles and fine lines occured in a study mentioned in Life Extension. CoQ10 is a safe over the counter supplement. The most bio-available form is Ubiquinol. You can find it in health food stores or order it from My Health Choice. Please call.
Pomegranate Juice – Proven benefits for the heart and circulatory system. 2 oz. daily is all it takes or capsules. Diabetics should use the capsule extract as the juice has too much sugar.
Vitamin C – This is a cheap supplement that every one should be taking 3000-6000mg daily for immune defense and heart health according to Linus Palling. He also recommends combining 10000mg Vitamin C with 5000mg of Lysine for effective treatment of angina (chest pains).
Organic Food – This is a little more expensive than standard vegetables and fruits. Buy better quality, eat less.. The problem is we now import so much food from other countries and because of NAFTA there are no inspections or regulations. This means they can use almost anything for pesticides and fertilizers without monitoring. If you do buy regular veggies and fruit please get a veggie wash and clean well. Grow your own if you can and buy local.
Alkaline Water – This is a little more difficult to locate. If you are interested I have info on where to get water treatment systems for drinking water to create alkaline water.
PH – Normal body PH is 7.33. When you have a lower number you are acidic, a higher number is alkaline. Disease cannot exist in an alkaline environment. Conversely, disease thrives in an acid environment. Certain foods help to balance PH. You probably have already guessed which ones are good and which are bad. Acidic – white flour, sugar, tap water, junk food etc. Alkaline – organic veggies, alkaline water, many fruits, etc.

Probiotics - Almost all of us have taken antibiotics. What we didn’t realize is that they are fungal in nature and in addition to killing bad bacteria they indiscriminately kill good bacteria in the gut. A balance of good bacteria and yeast is essential to health. When the good bacteria are killed off the yeast will increase at an alarming rate. Think about the times you have seen yeast infections pop up after taking antibiotics especially obvious in small children and women. We need to replace the good bacteria and should do so with probiotics for at least 30 days.
Digestive Enzymes – If you are eating dead food (micro-waved. canned, overcooked, processed, junk food etc.) you are not getting the natural enzymes found in real food and you should take probiotics to help in proper digestion and assimilation. Also if you have had your gall bladder removed you can enjoy eating again by supplementing with digestive enzymes and bile factors available at health food stores.
Raw Unfiltered Vinegar – Having a problem with reflux? Problem solved. 1 Tbsp. will do the trick. The reflux problem is not caused from too much acid, but too little. Try it, it works. Bragg is a good brand and is available at health stores and at Kroger in the health food area.
Lemon Peel – Got a headache? Peel a lemon and tie a bandanna around your head with the inside of the lemon peal against your forehead. Looks a little strange, but it works. Migraine? Try breathing into a small paper bag or zip lock for 20 minutes. Gone. EFT also works very effectively in about 2 minutes.
Silver Solution (Silver Biotics brand) – This is a phenomenal product. Not all silver products are the same. Silver biotics has been tested at universities like BYU, Arizona State, Johns Hopkins, and more at extreme high dosages with no side effects. It is proven to kill hundreds of strains of bacteria, fungus, viruses and parasites. Effective on Malaria, pneumonia, staff (MRSA), e-coli and the list goes on. Can be used topically, orally in the eyes, nose, and kills yeast infections. Works for ear aches, food poisoning, stomach viruses, ulcers and more. Coconut Oil – This is the healthiest oil you can use. It is used by the body differently than any other oil. It is converted to energy quickly and increases metabolism. Sweeteners – There are some healthy alternatives that actually taste good. Erythritol and Xylitol are two great options. Xylitol may cause loose bowels initially with some people, but will quickly subside with regular use. These products do not raise your glycemic index and are great for diabetics. They are available at www.globalsweet.com and at some health food stores. These are my favorites. Stevia is another natural sweetener, however it has an after taste if too much is used. Honey is a great sweetener but should be used sparingly by diabetics if at all.
Honey for Healing– This gift from God is great for healing diabetic ulcers, burns, and any type open sore or wound. Simply put some on a bandage and tape to the affected area. Raw unfiltered is the best form to use. Be sure to use a large bandage so the tape is not on damaged tissue.
Tart cherry juice or extract – This is a great treatment for gout. Drink a few ounces a day and the gout will resolve. As a preventative drink some 2-3 times a week. It gets rid of uric acid.
Bone Soup (Hyaluronic Acid) – Another remedy is to cook some chicken and/or beef bones on low heat for a long time. Drink or use as a broth. It contains hyaluronic acid that works wonders on joints and knee pain and a host of other maladies. Sleep – It is very important to get good restful sleep. I would suggest trying EFT mentioned earlier. Melatonin has been shown to be effective. I start with 1-3 mg and increase if necessary up to 6 mg. This is a natural hormone and does not cause “hang over” effects. You should sleep at least 6 hours and no more than 9. Valerian (herb) has been shown to be very effective also..
Vitamins – Don’t waste money on once a day vitamins. Buy whole food vitamin and mineral supplements. They actually work. Vitamins need minerals in order to work properly.
Grass fed beef and free range chickens or wild game. Preferred over commercially produced meats. Read about unhealthy meat under bad stuff.
Niacin – It has proven beneficial in many instances for Angina and lowering cholesterol.
Cayenne Pepper – It works to open the vascular system to improve blood flow to even the smallest veins. It is available in capsules and should be a minimum of 90,000 HU (heat units). Store spice varieties are usually not potent enough. Cayenne has proven to be effective in helping to revive heart attack victims when it is immediately placed under the tongue during or immediately after an attack.
Aloe Vera – Keep one of these plants around the house. It works unbelievably well on burns and rashes. Slice the leaf open length wise and rub gel directly on the area. Aloe Vera can be added to food to aid in stomach issues such as ulcers.
Sodium Chlorite/Chlorine Dioxide - This is possibly the most profound topic you will study. If you want to be free of any pathogens bacterial, viral, parasitic, or fungal or are dealing with any severe health issues from HIV to Hep C you would do well to investigate the links. Conclusion - I want you to remember that the key to your success in becoming healthier is education, education, education. The more you reinforce what is bad and good in your mind, the easier it will be to make healthy choices. You can become healthier, and have a better quality of life as you age. But even more important you can pass this knowledge on to your children and grandchildren. Let’s face it. If you fail to teach them, Ronald McD and all the companies that gear ads toward you children will be glad to take over for you. Just as we teach our children spiritual rights and wrongs, we must teach them to “choose the right” when it comes to health. This is only a reference to help you get started. Take the time to go to some of the web sites, read articles, and read labels. Ask restaurants if they use MSG in their food. Avoid processed food whenever possible. You can make the change and you will be healthier for it.
